Discover the canton of Vaud

The Canton of Vaud, which stretches from the Jura Mountains to the Alps and from Lake Geneva to Lake Neuchâtel, offers a wide variety of landscapes. Nearly half of the canton's population lives in the Lausanne-Morges area.
It is one of the most cosmopolitan cantons with 32% of its population from outside Switzerland. The canton is home to Switzerland's largest university campus in Lausanne (nearly 30,000 students, researchers and faculty) and some 50 private schools, most of which are internationally recognized, such as Aiglon College, Le Rosey, La Châtaigneraie and Ecole Moser.

The economy of Switzerland and the Canton of Vaud is largely open to the world and Europe. Exports account for close to one-third of Switzerland's GDP and 20% of output in the Canton of Vaud. Europe is the principal trading partner, receiving 66% of Vaud's exports.
The Canton of Vaud has a primarily knowledge-based economy (healthcare, finance, insurance, advisory services, education and research, etc.). Services account for nearly 80% of jobs. However, Vaud also has leading industrial activities, particularly in the fields of micromechanics, electronics, watchmaking, medical engineering, information technology and biotechnology.

The infrastructure and services, especially financial, needed for business to thrive are well developed in the Canton of Vaud. In addition to many plots of land, and commercial and industrial buildings, the canton also has several technology hubs and business incubators, as well as a World Trade Center in Lausanne.

The Canton of Vaud offers a pleasant climate, beautiful landscapes, a sense of safety and the hospitality of its locals. Unspoiled nature between lakes, countryside and mountains. Moderate-sized towns and villages that are well looked after, quiet and welcoming. The quiet and pleasant lifestyle has long attracted international celebrities to make their home here. Peter Ustinov, Barbara Hendricks, Phil Collins, David Bowie, Alain Prost and Michael Schumacher are some of the most famous people that live in the Canton of Vaud. Before them Charlie Chaplin, Ernest Hemingway, Vladimir Nabokov, Igor Stravinski, Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn made the same choice.
