What’s happening in Nyon?
All throughout Switzerland, everyone's talking about this pretty little town in the canton of Vaud. Located between Lake Geneva, the Jura Mountains and the vineyards of La Côte AOCNyon offers a landscape of varied beauty and excitement envied and recognized around the world.

The rhythm of events

When it comes to the tempo, many visitors (more than 230,000) come from all over the world to attend the Paléo Festival for 6 days of live concert music. Music lovers, international stars, as well as new artists, gather under the starry skies of Nyon on 84 hectares of land dedicated to music, making it the biggest outdoor event in Europe. The lineup of musicians to perform is always a surprise, typically releasing in the spring - but the rumors are off to a good start. This gigantic and remarkably organized event - a must for the Swiss - set records, with tickets selling out within just a few minutes. A little advice: Plan ahead and ask for tips from regulars.

With its experience and know-how, Nyon is fond of putting on festivals to the delight of its residents who love the party atmosphere, such as the FAR Festival des Arts Vivants (dance, theatre), the Caribana Festival (music), Visions du Rée (documentary film festival).

Nyon may be “of the moment” but that doesn’t stop it from feeding on its past. Nyon is also a city of history. The Château de Nyon attracts admirers of beautiful stones, porcelain (from Nyon) and vegetable gardens. Right in the city center, this fortress dominates the lake and the beautiful mansions in the surrounding area. Children are overjoyed to discover the heritage of Nyon in person by following the footsteps of Professor Calculus from the famous comic book The Calculus Affair by Hergé.

You’re already on your way to Nyon, if...

  1. Music, it’s in your blood
  2. You like a healthy balance of peace and parties
  3. You had a childhood obsession with The Adventures of Tintin

A city looking ahead

This ancient Roman colony is an ideal setting for a principal residence, either in town, in the surrounding countryside or on the shores of the lake. Just remember this: Wherever you go in Nyon, a beautiful panorama follows.

The city’s charm is undeniable, with its imposing Roman basilica and its renovated old buildings full of beautiful apartments. The Nyonnais like to go to the fishing village to buy the fish du jour and take long, peaceful walks along the lake.

The countryside around Nyon is very popular, where residences are comfortable, elegant and majestic. These properties overlook vineyards, the lake, and the countryside. From large houses with modern architecture and large windows to more traditional family homes, Nyon has only one non-negotiable: Respect for nature.

Residents of Nyon are sporty and active. The triathlon is one of the most important dates on the calendar, taking place every year in August. Biking is a highlight of the region; take on its mountains trails or take in down a notch and enjoy a breezy ride on the lake’s shores. In Nyon, you can also enjoy the beautiful strolls, especially on the Toblerone Trail and its fort from the Second World War. But from the first snowfall, the sledges and skis come out of storage, and at the end of a school or work day, you head to the nearest train or jump in the car (Nyon is extremely well-connected) to the nearest ski resorts: La Dôle, St-Cergue, or even further Crans-Montana, Villars or Gstaad.
