Studying at the École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL)
Discover the worlds of study
Since the 19th-century, the École hôtelière de Lausanne has trained students to become leaders in the hospitality industry and its various fields - culinary art, finance, marketing, risk and strategic management.
Students come from all over the world, from more than 100 countries, to study at the Lausanne campus. Not only that, but they also have the opportunity to take courses at prestigious universities in Hong Kong and the United States, in addition to benefiting from hands-on experience at international companies for a fully immersive curriculum. Bridging the gap between academic and professional life, it creates a direct path to a successful international career.
The range of diplomas offered by the EHL is as wide as it is exciting: A Bachelor in Hospitality Management is a four-year degree that allows students to immerse themselves in professional settings around the world. Why not take it up a level with a Master in Global Hospitality Business or an MBA, specializing in one of the many professions in the hotel or luxury industry, such as reception or staff management of a 5-star establishment. Student life at the EHL
When it comes to housing, students are in luck. Savvy property developers have bought up real estate in Lausanne and around major schools, including the EHL. These rental properties are either studios minimal in surface area, apartments with a few bedrooms or beautiful houses to share with roommates. With much experience in this sector, BARNES experts are fully aware of the addresses and types of residences that are most profitable for investors and most attractive to students, more than 1,500 of which attend the EHL. Renting an apartment or house in Lausanne or its surrounding countryside is not a problem with the assistance of BARNES consultants. The conditions are ideal for studying in a sound living environment on campus or around it.
Not your average campus
Above average is more accurate, and yet still modest. The campus is state-of-the-art with ultra-modern infrastructures to support the immersive curriculum. EHL students study in contextual simulations of luxury hotels, gourmet restaurants, professional kitchens, trendy bars, and a boutique that sells goods made in class.
Set in the countryside of Lausanne, the setting is a haven of peace. It features a vegetable garden for students to learn how to cultivate the flavors of tomorrow and terraces surrounded by greenery, the lake in the distance, and mountains nearby for ski weekends with friends, just 30 to 40 minutes from Lausanne.
The EHL program is rigorous, but it also caters to leisure. High-tech classrooms, a wine-tasting room, a real restaurant open to the public, lounges, and reception halls worthy of the world’s biggest hotels offer the ideal training courses for the future of the hotel and hospitality industry. For over 125 years, the EHL and its world-class faculty have been dedicated to excellence in order to ensure graduates opportunities in the world’s best hospitality groups. These international companies look to EHL to produce the next generation of talent and often carry out much of their recruitment at the school. More than 25,000 graduates have successful careers in the hotel and luxury industry.
