Live in the Canton of Valais
A concentration of happiness
Valais offers a beautiful setting and a quality of life that is highly sought after by Swiss people and foreigners who want to live in an extraordinary landscape of great green plains and eternal snows. In the heart of the Alps, Valais is made up of 46 peaks soaring more than 4,000 meters above sea level; Pointe Dufour, the highest point in Switzerland, towers at 4,634 meters. This territory is also home to 680 glaciers, including the magnificent Aletsch Glacier, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lovers of Swiss mountains swear by the canton of Valais, with famous ski resorts serving as landmarks. We warn you, discovering the slopes and summits of Zermatt, Crans-Montana, and Verbier at first snowfall will be no small task.
Contrary to popular belief, Valais isn’t left out of the running as a spring or summer vacation destination. In the warmer season, outdoorsy types enjoy many activities and breathtaking panorama. Valais borders the beautiful Lake Geneva and other natural lakes that serve as resorts for the region’s inhabitants. In particular, we recommend excursions on Lake Tanay and Lake Derborence.
A thriving economy in the heart of Europe
Although a divine natural environment, Valais is also a very important economic center in Switzerland. Innovation-oriented, this canton excels in technology and research, attracting booming industries, startups, SMBs bursting with ingenious ideas, and major international companies. Valais is located at a crossroads of plane, train, and car routes, just 2.5 hours away from Zurich and Milan, and 1.5 hours from Geneva. A very international region, French and German are the official languages, but English is also quite popular, especially in the business world. To the delight of entrepreneurs, there are a number of financial support services and subsidiaries available in the Valais for companies who hope to establish themselves in the region (but only under the right conditions, of course).

Life between the city and the countryside
Valais consists of an exceptional climate, sensational landscapes, and welcoming cities. You’d be crazy not to seize all the opportunities that life has to offer in the Vieux-Pays. You only have to choose between Bas-Valais, the center, and Haut-Valais.
Central Valais includes Sion and Sierre, 2 big cities attracting a considerable amount of buyers. Sion is the largest city in the canton in terms of population and home of a number companies. A couple of the most popular cities in Bas-Valais are Martigny and Monthey. In Haut-Valais, Viège and Brig-Glis are the go-to cities. Together they make the 6 most important cities in the canton, but the 126 communes in Valais exude a charm that buyers can’t ignore. With 500 hectares of vineyards and a wide variety of grapes, it’s no wonder the other cantons are jealous.
Families feel safe in the canton of Valais. The sight of your children returning home from school in the best mood is all the proof you need. Discretion and savoir-faire are essential parts of the Swiss and Valaisian honor code. These are just a few of the reasons why Valais is such a great place to live.
