Lausanne and Lavaux

Perched on three hills, Lausanne, the capital of the Canton of Vaud, tumbles down from its medieval heights to the delicious banks of Ouchy, where an undeniably relaxed rhythm of life reigns around the Beau-Rivage Palace. Young people have made the heart of the city and its quays places of nightlife. A city of art, entertainment and museums, Lausanne is famous for its classical music concerts and ballet company founded by Maurice Béjart. Lausanne is the international capital of sports, home to the International Olympic Committee as well as 19 international sporting federations and 17 international sport organizations, such as the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

It is also a university and research hub, with the École Polytechnique Fédérale (EPFL), the University of Lausanne (UNIL), Vaud University Hospital (CHUV), the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and Lausanne Hotel School (EHL).

To the east of Lausanne stretches the region of Lavaux. A superb example of harmony between people and the land, Lavaux and its steep slopes are objects of fascination. As human actions have contributed to shaping this exceptional area, Lavaux has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site as a cultural landscape since 2007. The extraordinary beauty of one of the most beautiful vineyards in Switzerland represents an example of human culture. Its characteristic identity and breathtaking views of the lake and mountains are a constant inspiration to many artists.

Located in the heart of French-speaking Switzerland, less than one hour from the Geneva airport, Lutry and its surroundings attract a growing population. With preserved villages, steep terraces and optimum sunlight, the privileged setting of Lavaux offers scenery of incredible splendor!

BARNES will be happy to meet you in its offices in Lutry to present you with the most beautiful properties in the region: mansions in Paudex, Epalinges or Saint-Saphorin, luxurious homes in Pully or apartments in the center of Lausanne.
